From the Artistic Director
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the newly redesigned web home or your Fountain City Brass Band. 2012 marks the tenth year of the FCBB and the band has had much to celebrate during its first decade including four North American Championships; four U.S. Open Championships; becoming the first American band to win a brass band competition in Europe at the 2009 Scottish Open; three European tours; major U.S. and U.K. appearances; three CD projects; established two youth brass bands, and the list goes on. Few people at, or in, our first performance on October 22, 2002 at UMKC's White Hall knew what a brass band was and surely none of us could have foreseen the success or impact that the band would have on so many people's lives in such a short time. It has been said that "Nothing great in the world has ever been achieved without passion." For the last ten years I have had the privilege of serving a group of incredibly passionate and talented musicians who have donated countless dollars, hours of practice, and time away from their lives and family all for the reward of fantastic music making and binding camaraderie. To the members of the FCBB, past and present, I'd like to say thank you for your inspirational dedication and work, and to our wonderful fans, sponsors and supporters; on behalf of the band I thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to sharing with you all that our second decade brings.
Most sincerely,
Lee Harrelson, Artistic Director
